Warehouse Inventory Planner/Analyst

Description

The position takes responsibility for storage planning and inventory management of materials within the assigned warehouse area in the facility. The Planner creates a safe and effective material storage plan from receiving to production, and production to shipping.  The space plan maximizes the density of storage as required to fit all material, and to have ready access to support shipping schedules.  The position is responsible for inventory accuracy and the cycle count program. 

 

Key challenges for the position are to manage the changing need for space on a daily basis, and to balance the need for high density storage with the need for quick access for shipping.

 

Additionally, the position serves to support the warehouse leadership team by helping standardized work processes for the warehouse team to use for repeat tasks:  Unloading, Palletizing, Packaging, etc.

 

Requirements:

  • Applicable education and experience in production warehouse management and inventory control. Must have experience with warehouse slotting, inventory analysis, and statistical tools in a manufacturing environment.
  • Expert level user of ERP/MRO systems for transactional activities and data analysis.
  • APICS certification a plus.
  • Experience with warehouse work planning and 5S skills training
  • Must understand company quality and safety expectations to determine that goods are stored in a proper manner.
  • Must have strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with Production Management Team and Supply Chain Management Team.
  • Fork lift certification and superior safety record.
  • Must adhere to company regulations and follow Code of Conduct.

Daily Tasks: To be completed with instruction from Warehouse Manager

 

Material Space Planning:

  • Run receiving report to understand the timing of inbound materials, and coordinate container unload planning.
  • Run shipping report to understand the timing and dock locations of outbound purchased finished goods.
  • Plan storage and staging space based on receiving and shipping schedules; noting that shipping and receiving areas must be kept clear to operate and not used as storage areas.
  • Plan storage and staging space for production finished goods, based on their size and ship date. Enable production spaces to be used only for production- not for finished goods storage.
  • Rotate inventories so oldest materials ship first.
  • Space planning enables Inventory to be maintained in a SAFE-NEAT-DENSE condition:

 

            All product is off the floor if it is not designated to a floor space

            All aisles are clear of product

            All pallet racks are unblocked and accessible

            All loose packaging and other trash is removed from area

            Materials are consolidated and/or combined with like materials in a logical order

            All red "do not inventory" tagged materials and slow moving materials are segregated properly as not to take up valuable inventory space.

  • Communicate needs for pallet racking, cantilever racking, or other shelving needed to meet the storage density needs of the facility.

 

 

Slotting:

  • Analyze material pull frequency, and optimize inventory locations to minimize putaway and pick times.
  • Determine what slow moving/excess materials may need to be stored in trailers in staging lot

 

 

Receiving Work Layout and Planning:

  • Use industrial engineering principles to establish effective work layouts and work with warehouse leadership to implement with associates
  • Reduce labor content in receiving, putaway, and pick processes.
  • Perform monthly 5S audits in the areas assigned

 

 

Inventory Accuracy and Cycle Count Program:

  • Help improve data accuracy in associated department processes.
  • Continuously improves our inventory accuracy by managing an effective cycle count program.
  • Inventory discrepancies are thoroughly investigated for root cause/corrective actions through the organization.
