Quality Engineer

This role leads and coordinates the organizations quality, lean, and 5S functions with direction and input form the VP Operations.  This role will head up the continuous improvement efforts of the organization, quality systems, and Lean / 5S initiatives.  The expectation is that this position is the catalyst of improvement, quality, lean, and 5S throughout the organization providing guidance and leadership in all aspects.

Primary Responsibilites:

• Manages essential quality systems effectively.
• Provides annual quality, cost, and organizational improvements by managing continuous improvement programs.
• Manages and maintains quality assurance documents including quality assurance plans, inspection standards, supplier and customer quality standards, Supplier Quality Assurance Manual, Quality, Process Flow, Manufacturing Quality Control Plan.
• Coordinates activities to resolve production problems, maximize product quality and minimize cost.
• Develops, implements, audits, and assists with 5S and Lean, and Quality systems.
• Leads 5S activities. Guides departments in all stages of 5S from implementation to sustainment.
• Assists in developing standard work, visual controls, accountability processes, production tracking systems, and productivity improvements as assigned.
• Assists the shop floor in creating a workplace that is clearly organized and clutter free.
• Recognizes and eliminates waste in production area, takes active role in continuous improvement culture (Kaizen). Leads departments, provides training, and guides lean project implementations in various departments.
• Recommends methods for improving utilization of personnel, material and equipment.
• Develops specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize and accomplish required work.
• Provides guidance and expert advice to management or other groups on technical, or process-related topics.
• Analyzes and provides input regarding quality of raw materials, purchased parts, and other items required to manufacture.
• Analyzes processes for improvements, failure modes, stability, and capability.
• Supports and assists with planning, development, and implementation of quality systems and activities with suppliers to ensure supplier parts meet or exceed plant and customer expectations.
• Initiates, prepares, and presents plans for quality improvements and train required team members.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
