Part-Time Mechanical Design Engineer Intern

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for:

• Supporting the on-going maintenance of drawings and bills of materials (BOM's) via Engineering Change Notices (ECNs)
• Designing product solutions that meet the customer's needs within cost constraints following NCC's New Product Development (NPD) process
• Production launch planning, creation of drawings and BOM's
• Creating appropriate professional presentation materials and design documents
• Coordinating prototype and sample production
• Support of the company's operations excellence/ continuous improvement initiatives with on the floor support of manufacturing.

Qualifications:

• Current Student in the Mechanical Engineering field required
• Education and/or experience with Mechanical or Machine Design using 3D design software (Solidworks preferred).
• Education & exposure to metalworking processes, equipment, and related design technologies. Typical processes: Laser Cutting, Hand & Robotic Welders, Powder Coat Finishing, Punch & Break Presses, Tube Benders, Saws, and Assembly Cells. Automation experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of drafting standards and symbols including dimensioning, tolerances, and welding symbols.
• Education in creating and delivering presentations to introduce designs to customers using Microsoft Office Applications (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
