Manufacturing/Production Shipping Manager

Description:       
Manager is accountable for the operation of a safe department focused on storage and shipment of materials. The responsibility for the direction and coordination of all of the shipping activities of the facility is ensured by this manager.  Typical subordinate activities are the storage and shipment of materials and finished goods and the maintenance of warehousing activities of inventory control records.  The manager is responsible for the movement of materials and goods within the shipping department.  Manager is in charge of managing the traffic and export activities of the facility.  Manager is responsible for filling out daily/weekly checklist and presenting to Supply Chain Manager before EOB.

Requirements:
College-level associates degree, attendance level that meets expectations, extended hours before and after shift as required, and 3 years or greater experience. Obligated to provide positive leadership and support the company's goals through the efficient use of personnel. Must adhere to company regulations and follow Code of Conduct.

Daily Tasks:      
To be completed with instruction from Global Supply Chain Manager

Planning:

• Perform loading analysis (footage requirements) for shipments daily     

• Schedule carriers daily, confirm times with production and carriers

• Plan dock locations for daily shipping activity

• Prepare all labels, BOLs (Bill of Ladings), and Packing slips by carrier through the teamShipment execution:

• Verify that product is identified correctly

• Verify that quantities shipped are correct

• Verify that all labeling/ special instructions are followed

• Verify that all loads are secure

• Verify that all associates in the area are adequately trained and are cross-trained and able to perform more than one duty as needed

• Communicate and follow the 3 step shipping processQuality verification:

• Visually confirm quality of products being shipped are to company standard              

• Verify that product is undamaged as loaded and secured properly within trucksKey Measurements:

• Track warranty shipments due to shipping errors

• Track warranty shipments due to shipping unacceptable product quality

• Track warranty shipments due to loading errors/damaged product

• Track OTD (On Time Delivery) to customer request and our schedule date

• Track merchandise ready to ship by planned ship time and measure detention charges incurred

• Track carrier performance- arrival within scheduled time.

• Measure productivity in labor-hours per line shipped and per dollar shipped

• Visually track 5S Scores and update Action Board in department

• All warranty shipments are communicated to the team at the daily huddle meetingDuties in all areas:

• Verify time worked and attendance weekly for whole department

• Communicate staffing issues at morning meeting

• Perform morning huddle meeting with team

• Manage preventative maintenance of hand tools, machinery and fork trucks to maintain in good working order

• Manage department costs to achieve or better standards

• Maintain a safe work environment in department for compliance with OSHA, company and other necessary rules and regulationsTeam

• Administers associate disciplinary actions, reviews, merit increases

• Ensure that job descriptions are up to date and monitored. Make sure that all individual goals are being worked on and on track for achievement by the end of the quarter

• Shipping board is filled out daily with individual assignments and lanes to be staged

• Space Management

• All product is off the floor if it is not designated to a floor space

• All aisles are clear of product

• All pallet racks are unblocked and accessible

• All received product is tagged with the current quarter's colored tag with bar code label

• Empty skid spaces are at a minimum

• All red "do not inventory" tags are filled out, recorded and disposition plan is in place
