Manufacturing Engineer

National Cart Company is adding a Manufacturing Engineer to our dynamic, creative and successful engineering team.

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the effective and efficient manufacturing release of designed and developed commercial material handling products. Responsible for design, development and operational deployment of work holding fixtures and robotic welding cells. Assigned projects may include legacy products, derivatives of legacy products or the creation of previously non-existent products.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree is Engineering preferred however relevant work experience and education may be considered.
  • 3-5 years' manufacturing experience with sheet metal manufacturing and robotic welding, OTC preferred
  • Experience with 3D software required, Solidworks preferred.
  • Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills; can accurately define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Solid knowledge of MRP systems, IQMS (DelmiaWorks) preferred
  • Shows initiative and manages workload with minimal supervision.
  • Results driven bias for action and consistently completes projects and tasks while meeting deadlines and dealing with conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively and productively with shared responsibilities within a team environment.
  • Lean Certification

Responsibilities:

  • Assists in developing comprehensive Timelines and Gantt charts for cross-functional product release process & drives the project using the Gantt chart tasks to ensure completion on time.
  • Reviews design products utilizing SolidWorks 3D & 2D CAD, FMEA, GD&T, and Tolerance Stack Up Analysis for manufacturing capabilities.
  • Designs and builds safety, quality, and productivity into fixtures to ensure cost-effective manufacturing and customer satisfaction.
  • Details all specifications with the necessary Critical to Quality (CTQ) criteria ensuring plant assembly can reproduce product performance effectively and efficiently.
  • Validates bill of material (BOM) for new products with accurate component part numbers and quantities.
  • Validates product performance by designing equipment and/or conducting verification testing.
  • Owns the design of robotic cells and implementation of identified robots, fixtures, and programs to deliver proper quality and placement of welds.
  • Creates any required documentation to support the production process including drawings, work instructions, check lists, etc.
  • Participates in production meetings to communicate new product introductions, product revisions and to coordinate activity with production team.
  • Identifies and implements continuous improvement within operations supporting lean initiatives.
  • Learns and retains understanding of metalworking/welding processes, equipment, and capabilities.
  • Suggests improvements to department Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Assists with direction to Associates for ensuring production rates.
  • Maintains 5S program area by keeping work area clean and neat.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Adheres to company regulations and follows NCC Code of Conduct.
