SummaryDescription:         

Responsible for one or more production areas. May have one or more leads reporting to this position, and may also serve directly as an area lead.  The Production Supervisor operates in a team environment and fosters the 'Safer-Better-Faster' culture.  Fosters a well-trained and motivated workforce. Earnestly adheres to and upholds plant policies and procedures for National Cart Co. Implements programs within department to support HR, environmental, health, safety, quality, lean, and preventative maintenance initiatives.

 

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Experience in leadership/ supervisory roles. Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Able to effectively utilize the business system (Open Systems Accounting Software) for production orders, Bill of Material and inventory transactions.
  • Must adhere to company regulations and follow Code of Conduct.

  • and support the company's goals through the efficient use of personnel.

            Typical Equipment: Laser Cutting, Hand & Robotic Welders, Powder Coat & Wash Lines, Punch & Break Presses, Tube Benders, Saws, Assembly Cells 

 

Principle Accountabilities:    To be completed with instructions from Management

Safer:

  • Champion a safe and organized working environment in compliance with company policies and programs.
  • Ensure all associates have completed the applicable safety training for all equipment and are listed as Authorized Users for any plant equipment.
  • Manage preventative maintenance of all tools and machinery to maintain in safe working order
  • Monitor team for compliance to company policies and procedures, document and enforce all work rules. Better:

 

  • Conduct daily meeting with associates to discuss daily goals and assignments; follow-up to inspect expectations are being met. Communicate company goals, objectives, policies and procedures.
  • Manage department data. Ensure accuracy of data capture of every task being performed via MRP or special manufacturing order. Confirm paper work is 100% complete, accurate, legible and returned to appropriate area immediately upon completion of the run per set up.
  • Review and propose corrections to Bills of Materials as needed for material and labor values.
  • Ensure equipment is setup and operated properly to produce quality parts.
  • Ensure first piece inspections are being completed by a qualified associate and labeled appropriately
  • Maintain department prints and process documentation; Ensure latest released prints are used to verify first piece quality for all jobs run
  • Support the 5-S Program; Must keep work area clean and neat; complete daily cleaning schedules; maintain company 5S score
  • Faster:

 

  • Develop production schedules and assign tasks to associates; coordinate activities with other departments to ensure schedule success.
  • Execute the daily production plan to ensure customer orders are completed on time, in a safe and productive manner. Proactively address and resolve material, work center, and associate related issues.
  • Identify, communicate and address production constraints to avoid backorders
  • Communicate with your internal customers to determine requirements and needs
  • Ensure jobs are run at standard or better rates; track progress and identify areas for improvement. Perform root cause analysis and recommend solutions to implement.
  • Continuous improvement of operations. Utilize process monitors for all jobs run; use to identify and resolve problems and improve operations. Continually seek waste reducing opportunities to improve performance. 
  • Team:

 

  • Communicate safety, quality and productivity expectations to associates and then follow up to inspect expectations periodically
  • Prepare and conduct associate reviews, recommend merit wage actions and promotions.
  • With prior coordination with PCM and HR, prepare and deliver appropriate associate disciplinary actions.
  • Attend production meetings as necessary for communication.
  • Manage associate attendance adhering to current attendance policy
  • Identify and resolve department problems; seek help when necessary
  • Identify training needs for department positions
  • Cross-train and serve as backup to the Product Category Manager as needed.
  • Perform as production associate when needed.
