2nd Shift Inventory Planner Clerk

Summary Description: Responsible for the effective production planning and scheduling of the plant, and ensuring overall inventory accuracy. Span of responsibility encompasses Capacity Planning, Work Order Creation to meet ERP demand, Schedule Validation, Schedule Maintenance and Inventory Control, and Bills of Materials. Develops and implements effective P&IC processes throughout the business, and a capable team to execute department tasks.

 

Requirements & Qualifications:

Reports to: Planning & Inventory Control Manager

  • 1+ years of related experience with inventory work orders via ERP
  • Intermediate level user of ERP systems for transactional activities, master data setting, and analysis in a discrete manufacturing setting with 1000's of SKU's.
  • Must have experience with Raw, WIP, and Finished Good inventory management.
  • Must have experience in production scheduling and capacity planning in a discrete manufacturing environment using a full function ERP system.
  • Work history must indicate stability, and demonstrate advancement through areas of increasing responsibility in production planning, scheduling, inventory management, or supply chain.
  • Outstanding attendance, working extended hours before and after shift as required.

Capacity Planning:

  • Maintains an accurate ERP system setting of our labor and machine capacity constraints.
  • Analyze work order (WO) and other demand data for capacity planning purposes for both production headcount and work center bottleneck planning.

 

Work Order Administration:

  • Review demand and create a schedule of work orders to achieve the sales order finished good needs (ERP).
  • Study WO's to determine if minimum build quantities are appropriate to minimize setups and transactions associated with repeat low volume builds.
  • Administer work orders in IQMS on a daily basis as required.

 

Work Schedule Validation:

  • Review work orders by work center to validate that the production schedule is clean (clear of old, invalid, unnecessary duplicate orders) and achievable (in line with capacity).
  • Re-work work orders as needed to have a valid, attainable schedule based on headcount, time schedule, and departmental labor productivity.
  • Track progress of production and review factors that affect schedule attainment.

 

Schedule Maintenance and Inventory Control:

  • Ensure all first operations in WO's are recorded and accurate. This establishes that WO's were started on time. Help enforce schedule attainment disciplines.
  • Maintain an effective scrap recording and any other manual inventory adjustments needed (manual work orders, etc). Confirm all paper processes are complete, accurate and legible.
  • Edit WO's as required for material substitutions for inventory accuracy.
  • Investigate all inventory busts with appropriate team members.
  • Record and verify all completed Finished Goods.
  • Improve and standardize inventory management processes as needed.
