Description:      Traffic Coordinator will manage all outbound traffic for the company and perform administrative support work for Shipping Department.  Traffic Coordinator will respond to inquiries from customers, vendors and internal stakeholders and refer to appropriate staff when necessary. Traffic Coordinator will review orders for accuracy and ensure corrections are made.


Outbound Traffic Coordination Responsibilities

  • Gathers all LTL and truckload freight charges for previous days shipping and issues purchase orders for them.
  • Creates customer load sheets, assigns load numbers and carriers and enters the same information on the customer's sales order with delivery dates and times.
  • Provides customer shipment details for routing, purposes and determines appropriate shipping methods when not designated.
  • Schedules LTL and truckload carriers daily and enters shipping information.
  • Updates yearly NAFTA certificates.
  • Audits freight bills for accuracy and disputes when appropriate.


Shipping Department Responsibilities

  • Enters backorder information.
  • Runs daily ship lists.
  • Runs small package labels as needed.
  • Runs add-on pick tickets as needed.


Customer Support/Sale Responsibilities

  • Enters customer orders as needed.
  • Provides logistics information for sales quotes.


OTR Responsibilities

  • Assign trailer assignments.
  • Coordinates routes based on available orders, specific customer requirements, NCC needs and    profitability.
  • Selects most cost effective freight options for customer shipments.
  • Responsible for issuing all purchase orders.
  • Responsible for handling all inbound purchasing issues not handled by NCC vendors.
  • Manages NCC Drivers and Service Crews.


General Responsibilities

  • Works with other departments to respond promptly to customer inquiries and orders.
  • Uses Lean principles to apply error proofing to daily procedures and techniques to create process control.
  • Accepts and uses Lean principles to reduce waste within departments.
  • Adapts to changes in the work environment. Is able to deal with frequent change, delays, and unexpected events.
  • Recognizes and applies housekeeping standards appropriately. Keeps area clean and organized on a daily basis with little to no direction.  Accepts shared responsibility for public areas.
  • Responsible for maintaining correct weights in inventory file maintenance system.

Education and Experience

  • Equivalent to high school diploma plus additional specialized training provided by company.
  • One year of Traffic Coordinating experience preferred.
  • Must have prior supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of NCC products and services preferred.
  • Moderate knowledge of Microsoft Office programs is required.
  • Above average attendance with flexibility for extended hours before and after normal shift.
  • Must adhere to company regulations and follow Code of Conduct.
  • Skills in database management a plus.
